You will start with a leisurely free day in Tel Aviv, and then begin your tour by making your way up to northern Israel, with stops along the way in Caesarea and Haifa. In the North highlights include the mystical city of Safed and Nazareth.In the next days you will continue on to Jerusalem to spend some time learning about the old and new city of Jerusalem, see where Jesus’s last supper took place, and visit Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem*. Caesarea /Megiddo/ Druze village/Haifa

Drive North from Tel Aviv to Caesarea, the Crusader city and Roman port- capital of Judea under the Romans. Here you will see the many excavations of the city, from the aqueduct to the restored amphitheatre that is used as a concert venue.

Proceed to Megiddo, identified as the site of Armageddon; visit the archaeological excavations including the well preserved water supply system. Continue to Daliat El Carmel, a Druze village in the North, where you willenjoy a late lunch at a local restaurant with an authentic atmosphere. Proceed via Mount Carmel to Haifa for a spectacular view of the Haifa bay and the Bahai gardens.

Monday

Safed / Golan Heights/Winery

Today you will drive to the city of Safed, known as the heart of Jewish mysticism, where you will visit the ancient synagogues and the artists’ colony.  Continue to the Golan Heights to see and learn about the former Syrian bunkers, and visit Kuneitra and the Israeli town of Katzrin.  Stop at the Golan winery for a tour and wine tasting. Proceed to “Kessem Hagolan”, a fun multimedia presentation of the area and its history.

Tuesday


Sea of Galilee / Nazareth
Start the day with a visit to Nazareth and the Church of Annunciation. Then, continue to Tiberias and visit Capernaum to see the ruins of the synagogue and church of St. Peter. You will visit Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus delivered the Sermon on the Mount. You will see the remains of the mosaic floor of an ancient synagogue depicting the zodiac in Beit Alpha.

Wednesday

Rachel’s Tomb

Jerusalem: the Old City
Start the day with a beautiful view of Jerusalem from Mount of Olives. After, you will drive to the Old City and visit the Tomb of King David as well as the room of the Last Supper on Mount Zion
Drive to the Old City. Visit the Tomb of King David and the room of The Last Supper on Mount Zion.  Enter the walled city and walk through the newly restored Jewish quarter.  Visit the Roman Cardo, the Herodian quarter and continue to the Western Wall.  Walk along the Via Dolorosa to the church of the Holy Sepulchre.  Continue to Bethlehem*. View Rachel’s tomb, visit the Church of Nativity and mangers square.

Thursday

Jerusalem: the New City

Visit the Israel museum. At the Shrine of the book you will see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the miniature model of Jerusalem as it was during the second temple period. Continue to a tour at the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. Visit Mount Herzl cemetery and Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Holocaust. Drive through the ultra-orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim, and learn about their unique lifestyle. In the evening, enjoy a Middle Eastern dinner, followed by the spectacular “sound& light” show* at the Tower of David museum. (Weather conditions permitting).

Friday

Qumran / Masada / Dead Sea

Drive through the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, almost 1300 feet (400 meters) below sea level.  Stop at Qumran and learn about the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.  Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada.  Ascend by cable car and tour the ancient fortress where the Zealots made their last stand against the Romans before committing mass suicide in 73 AD and see the ancient sites.  Descend by cable car.  Continue to the Dead Sea where you can cover yourself with the mineral rich mud and experience a swim in the Dead Sea ** that many believe has its therapeutic effects.
