Christian Bike Tour

DAY 1              ARRIVAL

Welcome to Israel!

Meet and assist upon arrival by our airport representative to assist you with your luggage collection after passport control and meet your guide and driver for this tour.

Transfer to Kibbutz Dalia.

Time permitting – visit the Horn of Carmel where Elijah battled the prophets of Ba’al, to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Galilee. Check into the hotel. Dinner at the main dining room.

DAY 2             CARMEL TO CAESAREA

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and board your bike for a ride towards the coast and through the Amikam region – known as the Tuscany of Israel.

Stop for lunch at the old town of Binyamina, (established in 1922) in the local winery.

Continue to Caesarea, built in the first century BC by King Herod. Bike along the Aqueduct all the way to the Ancient port. Take a short walking trip of the city that was once the Capitol of Judea, and also the site where St. Peter converted Cornelius and where St. Paul set sail to Rome.

Board the bus and head to Tiberius on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.

Day 3             Nazareth to Kfar Tabor

Breakfast at the hotel.

Meet your guide and drive to Nazareth.

A short walking tour of the Old city of Nazareth, biblical home of Jesus, the church of annunciation and the local market. Begin your riding day towards Mt. Tabor, overlooking the Galilee.

Ride through the Beit Keshet Forest to the village of Daburia, named after the prophet Dvora that lived in the area of mount Tavor. On to a climb up mount Tavor* mentioned in the New Testament as the place of transfiguration. See the monastery at the top and the ruins of a Byzantine and Crusader fortress.  Continue by bike to Shibli and Kfar Kama and have an authentic lunch. Spend some time after lunch to see the beautiful village and the local museum. Transfer back to our hotel in Tiberius. Overnight: Tiberius

Day 4              Sea of Galilee Loop

Breakfast at the hotel.

Enjoy a day of biking around the Sea of Galilee, taking time to visit some of the historical sites along the way. The Sea of Galilee was the birthplace of early Christianity, and several sites along around the lake mark different events in the life of Jesus. In Hebrew this is known as the Lake of Kineret, and was the birthplace of the first kibbutz and Israeli Socialism. Stop to visit Capernaum and see the ruins of the ancient village there, climb to the Mt. of Beatitudes and enjoy the view from the presumed site of the Sermon on the Mount. Pass by

Bethsaida the home town of the Apostils Peter, Philip and Andrew. Enjoy a St. Peter fish lunch on the shores of the lake. Return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 5             Mt. Gilboa and Beit Shean

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and board your bus for a short transfer to Mt Gilboa, overlooking the Yizrael Valley. Enjoy the quite road that will take you to the top of the Mountain and hear of the Story of the battle between King Saul’s army and the Philistine army (Samuel 1). Descend to the Valley below and enjoy a picnic lunch at Gan HaShlosha National Park where you can also swim in the pools of natural spring water. From here we will head to visit the ruins of Beit Shean. Board your bus and enjoy lunch en route south. Drive along the Jordan River to Jerusalem. Upon arrival to the City of Jerusalem you will see the city from the top of the Mt. of Olives. Check in to the hotel and enjoy dinner.

Day 6              Jerusalem 

Breakfast at the hotel.

Take advantage of the many shortcuts between the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, and ride through the city streets. The tour will include The Israeli Parliament, The Valley of the Cross, the pioneer neighborhood of Rehavia, The German Colony and an overlook to the Old City. This ride follows small streets, bike lanes, short cuts and hidden alleys. For lunch we will stop at the Old City gates, and continue independently for a free afternoon in the Old City with its colorful markets, and local food.

Day 7             Jerusalem and a night ride

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide for a full day walking tour of Jerusalem. The focuses on the 3000 year old city of Jerusalem, a world of its own, enclosed in walls and history. Our tour will take us through the alleys of the Old City, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Western Wall.

Visit the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall (the Kotel) of the Second Temple. After passing through the market you will be free to have lunch on own and choose whether to return to your hotel or tour on your own in the Old City until we meet again in the evening.

Return for dinner at the hotel.

Depart the hotel after dinner for night ride in the city of Jerusalem. Pass the Prime Ministers’ home, Valley of the cross, Israeli Parliament and Supreme Court and through the market to Jaffa gate. Dedicate some time for riding inside the allies of the Old City. End the night at Jaffa Gate for a drink and a midnight snack.

Day 8              Judean Hills

Breakfast at the hotel.

The hills surrounding Jerusalem hold some of the best cycling routes in Israel, and we will probably see dozens of other cyclists as we head on our way. Start with a ride from Bar Giora and head downhill towards Beit Shemesh. Continue through the Adolam Park, where we will get a glimpse of the famous caves where

Bar Kochva and his supporters hid from the Romans in the year 135 AD. From here we will ride to the Ella

Valley, the Biblical site of David and Goliath’s battle, and continue for a lunch and a taste of wine from Israel’s leading wine region. After lunch, continue your ride to the ruins of Beit Guvrin, a system of ancient caves dating back to different empires that passed through here.  The bus will take you back to your hotel in Jerusalem Enjoy a farewell dinner together.

Day 9 Departure

Breakfast at the hotel.

Enjoy the morning in Jerusalem on your own. Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
