Cable car, snake path or the up the ramp?

With everyone totally psyched about going to Masada the discussion was how to get to the top?

The visitor's center offers easy covered parking. Excellent for those hot days, when a cool car is a welcome place after a few hours outdoors.

The film and explanations were great. After reading the exhibets and watching the film, our guests of all ages were excited and felt prepared to ascend Masada. Some took the cable car, which they loved while the younger-at-heart insisted on climbing the snake path. Truthfully---great views of the Dead Sea, Jordan, and Israel either way.

Aside from the phenomenal history an added benefit to Masada were the gorgeous birds who make their homes in Masada today as they have over the ages.

The Masada Ramp is accessible from the Arad road. It is an easier way to walk to the top. Using the ramp you can avoid the tourists and crowds. It is really cool to reach the top of Masada quickly and then discover the scene on the other side of the mountain. However, you must go back down the same way to retrieve your car. The circumfrence of Masada's base is quite large so remember what goes up--must come down.
