The church on the Mount of Beatitudes is very beautiful, but the main attraction is still the surrounding view which is astonishing in its beauty. A walk around the compound and its gardens will introduce the visitor to the splendour of the place, and also gives one access to the unusual mosaics covering the plaza in front of the church.

History of Mount of Beatitudes in the Holy Land

This is according to the tradition the spot where Jesus shared the Sermon on the Mount with his listeners. It is possible this is the spot, and while visiting one understands why this site was picked due to its very special view of the Sea of Galilee. The first church was built here in the 4th Century. Today there is a Franciscan church on the hill, open to all denominations, and the visitor of any background can pray and commemorate Jesus in this extraordinarily beautiful setting.
