Highlights of the Kidron Valley
The Valley's position between the Mount of Olives and the Temple Mount is unique with its view to the Golden Gate on one side and Gethsemane on the other, right in the spiritual heart of the ancient Jerusalem. In addition to the surroundings the pillars of Absalom in the northern end of the valley is a good photo-op.
Background of the Kidron Valley
Due to its proximity to the Temple Mount and the Mount of Olives the Kidron Valley has been central in Biblical geography for millennia. It is maybe best known from the Prophet Joel where it is described as the place where God will judge the nations. It is also the place where David fled from Absalom and an area Jesus crossed regularly on his way to Bethany, and finally on his way to Gethsemane where he was arrested.
