Christmas 2013 Holy Land Tour

Day 1: Tel-Aviv - Galilee

Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport. Exit the terminal and meet with your guide. Drive to the Galilee. Dinner and overnight in Nazareth or Tiberias.

Day 2: Nazareth - Cana - Mt. Tabor

In the morning, we visit Nazareth, the largest city in the Galilee and the childhood home of Christ. There we will visit the Basilica of the Annunciation starting with the Grotto of the Annunciation and the Church. We will see the house of the Holy Family underneath the Church of St. Joseph. We will also visit Mary's Well and the Synagogue.

 




In the afternoon, we will drive to Cana of Galilee to visit the wedding Church, also known as the Church of the First Miracle, where Jesus performed the first of his Miracles, transforming water into wine. Here, there will be a possibility of renewing Wedding Vows. Continue the drive to Mount Tabor, the Mount of Transfiguration, and visit the beautiful Basilica and the rock under the altar where the Transfiguration took place.
Dinner and overnight Nazareth or Tiberias. (B, D)

Day 3: The Ministry of Christ in the Galilee

In the morning, we will drive to the Sea of Galilee to visit Capernaum, where Jesus ministered. Here we will visit the Church of St. Peter's Memorial and the house of St. Peter and the Synagogue where our Lord preached. Continue our drive to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic of the loaves and fishes, where Jesus fed the Five Thousand People. Continue towards the Mt. of Beatitudes, where our Lord gave the Sermon on the mountain. We will also enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Jordan River to renew our Baptismal Vows. On to Jerusalem.

Day 4: Bethany - Jericho - Qumran - Dead Sea

In the morning we drive to Bethany (the village of Mary Martha and Lazarus ) to visit Lazarus Tomb. Continue our drive along the Jordan Valley to Jericho. Visit the ancient city, Elisha's Spring, the Sycamore Tree, New City and view of Mt. Temptation. Continue onto Qumran and visit the excavations of the Essean Monastery and the Cave of the Scrolls. Stop at the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, and bathe in its unique mineral waters. Optional : Special evening tour of the Exhibition of the Shroud of Turin.

Dinner & overnight at your Hotel in Jerusalem.(B,D)

Day 5: The Old City - Mt. of Olives

After breakfast we will enjoy a full day walking tour throughout the amazing old city of Jerusalem. Visit the Temple Area: see the Western Wall, the Dome of the Rock, Al-Aqsa Mosque, St. Anne Church and the pool of Bethesda. Trace the final footsteps of Jesus as you walk the Via Dolorosa and visit the stations of the cross. See the Church of Flagellation, Ecce Homo, and The Holy Sepulcher.

In the afternoon, we will drive to Mount of Olives, and visit the Ascension Chapel, Pater Noster Church, Dominus Flevit, and the Church of Gethsemane.

Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem.(B,D)

Day 6: Mt. Zion - Bethlehem - Ein Karem

In the morning, we will drive to Mount Zion, and visit St. Peter in Gallicantu, The Cenacle (Upper Room), and the Dormition Abbey.

We then continue our drive to Bethlehem to visit the Basilica of Nativity, Grotto of the Nativity, Chapel of St. Jerome, Milk Grotto, and the Shepherds Field.

In the afternoon, we will drive to the near-by village of Ein Karem to visit the Church of Visitation and Church of St. John the Baptist. On to the newly designed Israel Museum to view the Holy Land Model.

Dinner & overnight in Jerusalem. (B,D)

Day 7: Jerusalem -Home:

Transfer to Ben Gurion Airport.
