The Palestinian country team is composed of a network of local partners (Bethlehem University, The Siraj Center, The Palestinian Wildlife Society, The Palestinian engineers without borders, Rosana and The Riwaq Center for Architectural Conservation and many friends). Together in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Abraham's Path trail is considered possibly the route whcih Abraham could have possibly walked some 4,000 years ago.
Walking Abraham's Path is a journey from the people, for the people, sharing the spirit of Abrahamic hospitality, kindness and friendship. Eventually the trail will include 1200 kilimoters of walking path from Syria to Egypt. Throughout the ages and until today, local communities along the path have embraced these values welcoming strangers as Abraham, the friend of God, welcomed the angels sent to his door.
Spend one week and walk 70 km from the city of Nablus to Jericho in the West Bank with other international travellers and Palestinian students. The trip culminates with visits to Bethlehem and Hebron/Al Khalil. You will have time to get to know the local families and participate in local culture through home stays. The path winds along the surrounding hills of Nablus, passing through the villages of 'Awarta and 'Aqraba before traversing the edge of the Jordan valley until Duma. On the way the traveler will see Canaanite, Roman, and Byzantine ruins at the city of Mount ‘urma. Ancient Islamic shrines (Maqam) and other Byzantine vestiges such as old churches also dot the land, as well as traditional village houses. From Duma, the path moves west through a wild wadi linking Ein Samia, an important water source, to Kefer Melek, Deir Jarir and the Christian village of Taybeh before ending the walk in Auja village in Jericho. The trip culminates in a visit to Hebron/El Khalil and Bethlehem.
