Description
A Redemptive Moment - A Model Passover Seder
It is an internal moral imperative to relate the story of the miraculous events accompanying the Exodus from Egypt which have their basis in Scripture:
\"In each and every generation, a person must present himself as if he, himself, has now left the slavery of Egypt, as [Deuteronomy 6:23] states: ‘He took us out from there.\' \"You shall tell your son on that day: it is because of what the Lord did for me when I came forth out of Egypt ...\" (Ex. 13:8).
Regarding this manner, God commanded in the Torah: ‘Remember that you are a slave [Deuteronomy 5:15]\' - that is, it is as if you, yourself, were a slave and went out to freedom and were redeemed.\" [Mishneh Torah, Laws of Chametz and Matzah, Chapter 7, Halachah 6]
For the last 3,500 years, the events narrated in the Book of Exodus have been retold around the festive and ritual meal of Passover. Jewish Law requires that each person should remember the years of bondage and servitude, the miracle of the Passover, and how God redeemed us with a \"strong hand\".
