Herzeliya's "Better Place" will Make the World Better

Better Place is an electric vehicle (EV) company founded by Shai Agassi. Their mission is to change our world from using oil-based ways of transportation, to using electricity-based. In February 2010 the electric car demonstration center in Herzeliya opened, paving the way for the first commercial launch of the vehicle in Israel and in Denmark in 2011.

When I went to visit their Herzeliya visitor center and test track on a private tour  last month, I was inspired by their presentation about making the world a better place. Changing the cars from using gas to electricity wasand is  a great idea. At Better Place I learned all about the problem, the solution, and their plan to make this dream a reality.

The tour was only an hour and a half and I enjoyed every moment. We learned about the battery recharging stations, and how, in Israel, there will be stations located throughout the country. The electric vehicle is essentially a fully electric, battery-powered car with a comprehensive infrastructure that includes charge spots and a battery switch station (which will be located all across Israel); and a comprehensive suite of in-car services designed to provide drivers with the best possible EV driving experience. The cars can go over 100 kilometres before being recharged. As part of the 1.5 hour tour, I even got to drive around in some of their, already manufactured, electric vehicles.
