I have lived in Israel for many years and one of my favorite places to visit is the Negev Desert.  The Negev is in the South of Israel and is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the country.  You can spend hours hiking trails throughout the desert and, if you are lucky enough to go camping there overnight, you will have the most amazing view of the stars.  There is no artificial light in the area at night so all of the stars and constellations shine through for a beatiful, relaxing and spiritual experience.
