With its amazing contrasts, the Vered HaGalil guesthouse offers breathtaking views of Israel's vast biblical sites while at the same time providing the tranquility of a country farm and the atmosphere of an American Western ranch replete with log cabins and horses.

In the region where Jesus spent the bulk of his ministry, the quaint and popular guesthouse is a great launching point for exploration of the Galilee. The guesthouse and horse ranch are styled with private, log-cabin accommodations and farm buildings.

Horseback riding is one of the main features of the ranch. A new pool on the premises provides an escape from the searing heat of the Golan Heights.

Groups are welcome to pick fruit from the orchards on the property and can volunteer their time in various capacities needed at the farm.

Owner Yehuda Avri speaks to groups who stay at the ranch. The Chicago native built the farm in 1961 with his wife Yonah, who was born in Israel. Following in the footsteps of Israel's pioneers, Yehuda developed the land from scratch and combined his love of agriculture, horses, people and food.

The location is a perfect starting point for a visit of the Galilean sites, many of which center on the life of Jesus. The tranquil country atmosphere at the guesthouse allows visitors to recharge and be refreshed as they explore the sites.

Vered HaGalil is situated just five to 10 minutes drive from Korazin, the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabgha, Capernaum and Domus Galilee.

The Arbel Nature Reserve and Banias, good hiking sites with biblical context are 20 minutes away in different directions. The city of Nazareth, where Jesus grew up, is a 45-minute drive from Vered HaGalil.

Nestled between the Golan Heights and the Galilee with sweeping views of the lake, the farm offers horseback riding, spa services, restaurants and other activities in addition to rustic, country-style accommodations. Spanning 120 dunams, the guesthouse is comprised of 31 basalt stone and log cabins, orchards, riding trails and other amenities.

One of the country's finest steakhouses is located on the premises. There is also a spa with massage treatments, a sauna and jacuzzi. Jeep trips to explore the back trails of Galilee and Golan are offered as is, of course, horseback riding – a staple of the guesthouse.
